BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards 2015

After touring the markets for just under a year we were honoured to be nominated by our customers and selected by a panel of judges as finalists in the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards 2015 Best Street Food category. The awards ceremony was held on the College Green in Bristol in April and we had the opportunity to meet many chefs and restauranteurs we’ve admired from afar - we failed miserably at playing it cool.
Although we didn't win the coveted wooden chopping board, to make it to the final three in our first year was more than we could have ever hoped for.
Heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted, let’s see what the next chapter has in store.

Customer feedback

Following on from visiting us unannounced at Temple Quay market, Mark Taylor reviewed us in the Bristol Post, in his words “Traditional Italian techniques twinned with high-quality local and foraged ingredients makes Bertha’s mobile pizzeria well worth tracking down”.

The Landy described our truck as ‘the tastiest 110 of all time’ and put us on the front cover of their magazine, and we also had a mention in the first publication of Bristol 24/7. Martin Booth from Bristol 247 also selected Bertha's as the Best Street Food opening of 2014, we're flattered to be amoungst such great company.

Hiut Denim added us to their Scrapbook Chronicles, these are the guys who founded Howies, Hiut Denim and the Do Lectures, their comments really meant a lot to us:

Below are some other comments from private and corporate events.

Matt Pennington, Head Chef & Co-owner of The Ethicurean, June 2015
"You're reigniting artisan craft with an attention to detail unsurpassed. You have created true flavour. I love your work."

Mr. Chappell, April 2015
"Wow what a big hit! People are still talking about it a week later. Just Brilliant. Very straight forward to deal with...nothing was a problem. Nobody had seen pizzas cooked in a Land rover before, and it gave the party a real buzz, and talking point. And the pizzas, Kate and Graham obviously really care about food."

Mrs. Williams, August 2014
“..The pizzas are so far removed from your average idea of a pizza and are simply AMAZING! They are clearly passionate about what they do and in their careful selection of the most delicious ingredients. All our guests thought it was fantastic and I am still dreaming of slices of Cherry Jones!....”

St John's College, June 2014
“…the pizza itself is incredible, the compliments we have received for Bertha's sourdough pizza keep coming in…”

Mrs. Wilsdon, June 2014
“Kate and Graham have started something really special here- the pizzas are truly incredible- the best we have ever had..”

Arch Climbing Wall, April 2014
…the pizzas are really extraordinarily good…”
